A Buyer's Guide To The Electric Toothbrush

When it comes to our teeth, we all want to make sure that we're providing them the best cleaning possible. Your every day toothbrush is an important tool in the fight against the bacteria that cause tooth decay, and getting the best possible toothbrush we possibly can should be a important priority. Unfortunately, choosing a good brush can be really difficult. This is because of the huge array of different models available, and the countless different features that each model includes can be confusing. Today we're going to separate the wheat from the chaff and share with you what we reckon are the features that you should demand when deciding on your new electric toothbrush. A braun electric toothbrush will help immensely.

The item on the list of essentials is a built-in brushing timer. Were you aware that the dentist-recommended brushing duration is two minutes? Whether you did or not, there's a good chance that you're not observing this properly. Brushing your teeth is probably not your favorite pastime (nor is it mine), and as a result you'll usually be in a race to finish it off quickly. You'd be ashamed how little time you might be spending on brushing! Any good electric toothbrush will have a built-in brushing timer which knows how long you've been brushing for, and will make a sound when you have been doing so for the dentist-recommended two minutes. Happily your teeth will be getting a great brushing, and you can let the toothbrush do all the counting! I talk about correct brushing a lot more at my journal, if you'd like to find out more.

Our second recommended feature, is a built-in quad timer. Not only do people take less time than they ought to on cleaning their teeth, but for the little time that they do use they tend not to balance the brushing equally between the four parts of their mouth. You may begin enthusiastically, giving the first section of your mouth a vigorous brushing, before boredom sets in and zipping through the rest of the mouth. This means that not all your teeth get good brushing, and those that you move over too fast are more prone to attacks from plaque. Toothbrushes with a built-in quad timer will let you know when you should move your brush to a different section of the mouth. Thus helping to be sure all of your teeth get the amount of brushing they require, and you won't be leaving any gum disease causing plaque bacteria.

The third thing on the recommended feature checklist, is rotation. You see, in quite a lot of electric toothbrushes on the market, the brush head only oscillates. The best toothbrushes do oscillate, but also rotate at the same time. This is more important that it sounds, as independent tests have recently ventured that sonic electric toothbrushes that rotate and simultaneously oscillate actually remove from the teeth 10% more plaque than those that don’t rotate. This actually equals a 20% reduction in the chance of experiencing tooth decay or gum disease. A Braun electric toothbrush such as the Oral B Triumph 5000 provides both the neccessary oscillation and rotation, and the knowledge that goes along with the best brushing.

Finally, we also advise finding a toothbrush with a quick charging battery. The battery of the majority sonic toothbrushes last a long time these days (easily long enough for vacations), however a usual problem is the length of time it takes to give it a full charge. On some brushes, this can mean a painful 17 hours! This means if you find that your toothbrush battery has run out when you get up in the morning, you won’t be able to charge it for long enough to clean your teeth before you leave for work. This is a definite annoyance for people who aren’t able to keep their brush on charge twenty-four-seven. The good news is that a lot of newer brushes will charge much quicker now. As a result, there are brushes available that will charge fully in half the time. This is much more convenient; all you need to do is place your toothbrush on the base station before you go for work, and it'll have a full charge when you are ready to use it again.
